If you travel to the Nakina area from a distance, you will want to lodge nearby the night before your fly in date. Options are limited, so make your reservations as far in advance as you can. Nakina, Geraldton and Longlac all have some options but do fill up, especially in the summer months.

Border Crossing Information For Our U.S. Customers:

All non-Canadian travelers will be required to be in possession of a valid passport.

Please remember you are entering a foreign country.  Please exercise good judgement and extend respect to the border patrol officer.  All travelers should remove hats and sunglasses prior to border inspection points. We recommend that only the driver of the vehicle speak, unless passengers are asked a direct question.

Non-resident hunters bringing firearms into Canada need to complete a Firearms Declaration Form and present the form and firearms to the border patrol at crossing. *DO NOT sign the form until the border patrol instructs you to do so. Handguns are not allowed in Canada.

DWI/DUI Record

US Citizens who have a DWI/DUI on their record are advised to check current laws regarding entering Canada before booking your trip. Without prior arrangements you will not be allowed to travel into Canada.

Please note that in late 2017 Canada enacted the strictest alcohol rules in North America.  If you have an open or unopened container of alcohol or any alcohol in your bloodstream while in a boat:

1. You will be immediately arrested and flown back to Nakina at your expense

2. You will lose your driver's license for 15 months--which all US. states and CA. provinces will honor

3. You will be fined a minimum of $600

4. You will have a 10 year criminal record and be on an alcohol offender list for your lifetime

Floatplane check flights by the Ontario Provincial Police and conservation officers of the Ministry  of Natural Resources are occurring at both drive-to and fly-in camps very frequently. Your chances of being checked are very high. Please act responsibly and have your drink around a campfire or kitchen table at night

Under 18 Years of Age

All minor children traveling from the US into Canada without legal parent/guardian are required to have documentation clearly identifying the legal guardians of the minor, and include relevant contact information for one of both parents/guardians (cell phone included).
